Forget Shark Week! It's Grammar Week!YAY!

Objective: We will identify when it is necessary to use commas with appositives and appositive phrases. We will annotate the readings in our tech project binder, focusing on asking questions to enhance meaning.

Homewok: Work on short story rewrite, due 2/25. Find a technology article relating to your role and complete a news report. This will be due Friday.

News report should consist of the following:

Title of Article - (Remember that article titles go in quotations!)
Source of Article -
Topic of Article -
Prompts:
#1 Summarize the main ideas of the report. Include enough information to explain the report in full
     detail.
#2 Why is this report significant to the world?
#3 Explain three interesting facts about the report.
#4 What is your overall opinion about the topic of the report? (at least 10 sentences)
Please write all prompt answers in complete sentences.

Monday, February 11th - 15th

Good news, young scholars! You do not have vocabulary activities this week. I will try to post the next set of words early this week. Focus your attention on completing, editing, and publishing your book project essay. If you've finished with that, use this homework break to relax. Reward yourself by reading a good book or flipping through a cool magazine. You deserve it!

Monday: We will wrap up Flowers For Algernon and discuss how it fits into the realm of science fiction. We will work on editing and finalizing our book project essays.
Homework: Work on book project.

Tuesday: We will discuss our upcoming technology research paper project. Binders and parent project letters will be distributed. Students will join their groups and decide upon roles within their groups.
Homework: Work on book project. Get technology project letter signed by parent(s)/guardian(s).

Wednesday: We will begin working on our technology binder activities.
Homework: Work on book project.

Thursday: DELAYED OPENING! We will continue working on our binder activities and start finding research articles on the laptops.
Homework: Complete book project. Signed technology project letter is due today.

Friday: BOOK PROJECTS ARE DUE TODAY! Please remember, late projects will be reduced to a maximum grade of 60%. Students have the choice today of either Independent Reading time or working on their binder activities.
Homework: Begin new vocabulary activities. Find a new novel for our next book project.
